THE ROCK THE Route AND THE RABBI is a unique book. At first, I wondered if it would be all that interesting, but it is! Whilst reading this volume, I kept on thinking, "Hey, I want to go on that tour!"

The reason that Kathie Lee Gifford wrote this book, is that it goes to the heart of what she values almost. This state is the land of the Gospel: "I believe with all my soul that the answer to every question any person will ever enquire is subconscious in that land and in the Word of God."

The author takes the reader to many famous Biblical places. Then, with the help of ii Bible experts, Rabbi Jason Sobel and Ray Vander Laan, she explains what happened here in Biblical times. The two theologians do a skillful job of setting the stage, and explaining the pregnant of the Biblical passage.

In my favorite affiliate, nosotros visit the Valley of Elah, where David killed Goliath. Here, the writer and her late husband each choice upwards a stone. The question for them is, "What is your stone? What is your gift? What is the one matter that y'all can do that no one else can exercise merely you?"

And that'southward how the book works. We visit the scenes of the Bible, we get an practiced explanation of the passage, and as well a practical lesson.

In visiting the places where Jesus lived, the guides talk over how people lived at that time I was flabbergasted to hear that a more accurate translation of Jesus' occupation was "stone mason," not carpenter! This fits the Bible narrative well, since "Jesus is the promised principal craftsman and architect of cosmos who brings order out of chaos and shalom to our lives."

The author sums upward her book with this challenging word of encouragement: "I encourage you to find your stone and throw it at the chaos of this world. Serve the living God and detect your purpose in Him."

Nicely said! When does the next tour get out?

Information technology felt like it took me ages to go through this book and I literally cruel asleep not one, not two, but three times while reading. It'due south a very scripture heavy book and if you are new or are a more casual reader of scripture, this book may be difficult for you. I seriously would actually only recommend this book to those that have a deep knowledge and understanding of the Bible because it'south not an easy book to understand.

As well, I experience like to really understand this book the reader substantially has to have visited State of israel to exist able to visualize or empathize the locations that are mentioned. Well, I myself accept never been to Israel and I know of many that are in that same category.

Once again, I call back the bulk of my issues that stem from this book is the fact that I expected a totally different kind of book. But I practise have to say that I think at that place volition be others similar me who unknowingly selection this book upwardly and are left disappointed.

"The Rock, the Route, and the Rabbi" is a travelogue of sorts about the places Kathie Lee Gifford saw and the insights she learned while on diverse tours of State of israel. There were too sections by Messianic Rabbi Jason Sobel, but they often focused on speculative ideas, like numerology. For instance, "According to some Jewish mystics, the letter hei is connected to the divine jiff of God that releases His artistic power and potential... Now information technology should make more sense why David picked up five stones. David needed the supernatural power that comes with a divine breath in order to punish Goliath, the wicked blasphemer, to restore honor to the divine proper noun, and to bring shalom to the chaos. This is what alphabetic character hei--the fifth letter of the Hebrew alphabet and the number five--represent in Hebrew thought." What bothered me was that he presented his speculative ideas like they were solidly truthful rather than a absurd idea, but we can't be sure was the actual motive, really happened, or was an intended connection. Some of his ideas were less speculative and others are commonly accepted connections, but they were all presented the same.

Anyway, each chapter focused on a specific site and on an result that happened in that location. The author either summarized the effect or quoted the verses from the Bible. She provided some historical or bones Bible background data to the consequence, then provided a brief spiritual lesson. While much of this book had skillful information, at that place are many fantabulous books that provide biblical groundwork insights which incorporate less speculation.

She also shares about her journey's to Israel and how these visits take impacted her faith in profound means. She also shares almost her married man, Frank, and how going to Israel made such a departure in his organized religion - from a religion to a relationship with Jesus. This story actually touched my heart and I always love hearing stories of when people truly come to know Jesus.

More than than these stories, however, are the teachings in this volume! I had my highlighter out and my pen and made so many notes and highlights in this volume - there's barely any paper showing through! I learned and then much most the Word of God and it has given me such a hunger for His Give-and-take! It has given me a spark to my faith again and for that I am so thankful.

In my opinion, this is a must-read book for everyone! I cannot even convey how much this volume has meant in my life for directing me into my Bible and into prayer time. I have been studying the Greek and Hebrew meanings of words because through Kathy Lee's book, I have come to sympathize how important it is to know the true meanings of each and everything.

I sympathise that Mrs. Gifford is enthusiastic well-nigh her religious behavior and would have been happy to read a book about her spiritual journey. Also, I know that Christianity is based in Judaism. Christians believe that since Christ is the Messiah, the Jews covenant with G-d is fulfilled; therefore, a new faith needed to be created. The fact that Judaism still exists is a problem for Christians.

The impetus for this book was a trip to Israel that Kathie Lee Gifford undertook. If you are a laic of one of the dandy monotheistic beliefs (Judaism, Christianity, or Islam), I strongly encourage you to visit for your cocky. It is a powerful feel to visit the places where the events in the Holy Texts actually happened. Although, it doesn't come until the epilogue, the volume is essentially a commercial for Rabbi Sobel's tours to Israel. While some commercialism in religion is necessary, that should not be the focus.
